As a manager, you want to support your team—but when an employee shares a personal trauma or adversity, knowing the right response isn’t obvious. Without the right tools, even the most well-intentioned response can inadvertently damage trust and cause an employee to shut down.
The need for skilled leadership is clear: Singapore ranks lowest in psychological safety in Southeast Asia, with more than 6 in 10 employees not feeling safe to share their mental health challenges (link to read more). This isn't just a personal struggle; it's a leadership challenge.
This half-day workshop equips you with the practical skills and foundational knowledge for a trauma-sensitive response. You’ll learn how to acknowledge experiences, provide meaningful support, and foster psychological safety—all without overstepping your role.
This isn’t about being a counsellor. It’s about gaining science-backed clarity and moving beyond the misconception that simply “listening” is always enough.
Transform your uncertainty into clarity and your anxiety into confident, compassionate action.
Specifically designed for managers with 3+ years of experience (new managers are also welcome to learn from peers).
This workshop is for you if:
You manage a team and want confidence in supporting employees dealing with trauma or personal adversity.
You want to move away from reactive sympathy and fear of saying the ‘wrong thing’ to proactive, strategic leadership grounded in care.
You're an experienced leader who's seen standard management playbooks fall short during a personal crisis.
What you will walk away with:
A simple, 4-step framework to guide your response in the moment.
The 3 most common signs of trauma reactivity at work (it's not always obvious).
Scripts and phrases to use (and to avoid) to prevent unintentional harm.
Clear strategies to hold supportive boundaries without overstepping your role as a manager.
A free digital toolkit with quick-reference guides and resources.
Testimonials from past trainees:
“I am more aware of how I use language, and how I can reframe my words to better recognise trauma and resilience in another person...Thank you so much for sharing the information/slides/worksheets afterwards, complete with model answers. It's really refreshing in an age where information is usually commodified and monetised.”
“That I don't have to feel fearful of having to say the perfect thing, but rather work on co-creating support together. And that even silence can hold space.”
“Inform my language when in conversation with people in my life experiencing trauma.”
